Advances in Collaborative Civil Aeronautical Multidisciplinary

The results of a recent industry-led European research project on the virtual collaborative civil aeronautical enterprise serve as a case study to further elucidate multidisciplinary design optimization. The studies follow the phases of a generic design cycle as closely as possible, moving from issues at initial design stages to more detailed design optimizations; a secondary arrangement moves from product complexity to simplicity: whole aircraft through engines to single components. They do not follow a single design or product through the process, and their examples are from the real world. Among the topics are choosing between.
