Diesel Decade: The 1980s

In many ways the 1980s was the 'Golden Age' of diesel locomotive-hauled trains on British Railways. By this period travel behind steam traction was a faint memory. However, many popular classes would carry on throughout the 1980s and this decade also saw many changes taking place in the infrastructure of the railways.
